Interview with SW DESIGN

SW DESIGN ("SD") interviewed on Saturday, 17 March.

Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?

SD : I studied architecture at universities and research institutes. I have been involved in interior design work since graduation for about 12 years. In 2009, I went to Shanghai to participate in the 2010 China Expo and Taiwan Pavilion projects of EXPO. In 2011, we established our own design company.

How did you become a designer?

SD : My father is also engaged in the construction industry. Due to my father's influence, I became interested in the construction project. At the university, I chose to study in architecture. At first, I hope to become an architect. After graduation, I will enter the interior design company because the design has always been one of my interests. The interior design can not be limited by the regulations and have more to play, so I have been Focus on interior design

What are your priorities, technique and style when designing?

SD : We don't limit the design style very much. In each design, we pay most attention to people, that is, users. The relationship between user and space, user's preference and user's habit become the main axis of design. At present, we all use 3D software to simulate the space and render the material, so we can completely understand the comprehensiveness of the design in advance.

Which emotions do you feel when designing?

SD : A complete design process is like producing a childThe curiosity and joy at the beginning of contact may have some annoyances in the middle, pain in the production process, and finally a fulfilled sense of accomplishment.

What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer?

SD : I like painting since I was young. It is a good beginning for the contact and appreciation of art or beauty. But to be a designer, I think I still need some details and requirements.

What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project?

SD : At present, our company's main design is still the home's indoorIn the future we hope to expand more different projects, perhaps commercial spaces such as restaurants, hotels, or officesFurther, we also hope that through the planning of the construction project, the interior can be more closely integrated withWhether it is a small or large case, it will gradually become our portfolio. Each case will record the traces of our thinking. In the end I still hope to leave a landmark project that will allow more people to see our design.

What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career?

SD : Full vitality and interest are the most importantAt first, there may be many setbacks because you don’t understand, but through hard work and time, the accumulated experience will make you grow.

You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects?

SD : Because each design may produce different problemsNote and intention should be the best wayBy spending more time designing, looking for information, asking seniors to reduce the possibility of mistakes

What is your day to day look like?

SD : The designer's life is also full of changes, because the different stages of the design may be in the noise of the construction site, the owner's discussion, the troubled design of the coffee, or the search for inspiration in a song. Our workdays and rest days may be less obvious than the boundaries. Sometimes, although at work, they may go shopping to find inspiration. Sometimes while traveling, they may also be looking for design items and inspiration.

How do you keep up with latest design trends? To what extent do design trends matter?

SD : Subscribing to some new magazine books and social media following some of the designs allows us to understand some of the new design trendsWe also hope to create our own brand of furniture and furniture in the future that will make our design more comprehensive.

How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design?

SD : In fact, I find it difficult to define what is a good design, because good is a subjective idea. For me, a good design should be able to meet visual aesthetics, use function,Simply put, it's all about making you feel comfortable

How do you decide if your design is ready?

SD : I think only when the finished product is finished is the moment when the design is completeThere will always be some minor changes in each design process, but we still have a process that sets the point at which each time and decision is implemented.

What is your biggest design work?

SD : Every design project is something we are proud of. Our own home is more special because we have more free choices for our own owners. At present, we have several cases of private homes in hand. It is more desirable to have our own office, hoping to create more styled designs.

Who is your favourite designer?

SD : Same woman, of course Zaha HadidFrom her design, she can feel infinite explosive power. No matter whether it is a breakthrough line or a combination of materials, the feeling from the outer space to the inner space is amazing.

Would you tell us a bit about your lifestyle and culture?

SD : We are now located in Taiwan and it is a vibrant island. Many designs are flourishing. My favorite city is Italy's Firenze. Walking through the old streets of history and culture is full of inspiration.Design is to improve every small detail of life and make life more convenient and comfortable

Would you tell us more about your work culture and business philosophy?

SD : Currently I work with my husband. We have the same architectural background so it is easy to communicateBut working with me shouldn't be very simple, because I'm a person who pays attention to detailsWe are also about to hire assistants and other designers. I would like them to have passion and enthusiasm for design, as well as concept of time.

What are your philanthropic contributions to society as a designer, artist and architect?

SD : If there is an opportunity, I also hope that we can do some design feedback through public welfare projects, or we can share our experience through lectures.

What positive experiences you had when you attend the A’ Design Award?

SD : The A’ Design Award provides a lot of world information so that we can recognize more good designsThe award also allows us to increase awareness and customer trust in the mediaWe feel very honored to be selected as the Designer of the Day among designers all over the world. We will focus more on our design and expect to create more good works.
