Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?

JN : As a designer, I have extensive experience in creating innovative and meaningful jewelry designs. I have worked on a wide range of projects, from intricate custom pieces to large-scale collections. My journey in design has been shaped by a deep appreciation for both traditional craftsmanship and modern techniques. Collaborating with talented professionals and managing a highly professional and ethical team alongside my spouse, Melika Etemadi, who is also a renowned jewelry designer, has allowed me to push the boundaries of creativity and technical precision. My work is driven by a passion for transforming concepts into tangible creations that resonate with people and stand the test of time.

How did you become a designer?

JN : My journey to becoming a designer began with a deep interest in art and creativity from a young age. I was always fascinated by the way design can transform ideas into tangible objects that have both aesthetic appeal and functional value. Pursuing formal education in design and jewelry arts allowed me to hone my skills and gain a solid foundation in both traditional and modern techniques. Over time, I gained practical experience by working on various projects and collaborating with other designers. This hands-on experience, combined with a passion for continuous learning and innovation, ultimately led me to establish my own brand, JamoDart, and pursue a career in design full-time.

What are your priorities, technique and style when designing?

JN : When designing, my priorities include developing a strong concept through thorough research, infusing creativity and innovation into designs, and ensuring technical precision in every detail. I use digital tools and hands-on techniques to create unique designs and always refine my work with physical models and prototypes. The blend of traditional craftsmanship with modern technology is a central theme in my work, and my experience and efficiency help speed up the design process.

Which emotions do you feel when designing?

JN : When designing, I experience a range of emotions, including excitement, curiosity, and satisfaction. The creative process ignites a sense of excitement as new ideas take shape. Curiosity drives me to explore different possibilities and push the boundaries of design. Ultimately, a deep sense of satisfaction comes from seeing the final product come to life and knowing that it resonates with others.

What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer?

JN : The rich Iranian cultural heritage, formal education in jewelry arts, and professional experience on diverse projects with talented designers are the main aspects that have shaped me as a designer.

What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project?

JN : My growth path involves expanding my expertise in jewelry design, exploring new techniques and technologies. My future plans include creating unique and innovative collections, collaborating with other talented designers, and exploring new markets. My dream design project is one that blends traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, resulting in a grand and impactful creation.

What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career?

JN : Continuous Learning: Always be in the process of learning and improving your skills. Attending courses, workshops, and conferences can keep you updated with new techniques and trends. Innovation and Creativity: Don’t be afraid to experiment and try new ideas. Creativity and innovation can set you apart from others.

You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects?

JN : Keep learning, stay creative, network widely, focus on quality, and seek inspiration everywhere.

What is your day to day look like?

JN : My day-to-day routine involves a mix of creative and managerial tasks. I start the day by reviewing ongoing projects and setting priorities. Mornings are often dedicated to brainstorming and sketching new designs, while afternoons focus on meetings with my team and clients to discuss progress and feedback. I also spend time researching new trends and materials to stay inspired and innovative. Throughout the day, I balance hands-on work with strategic planning to ensure the smooth operation of my brand.

How do you keep up with latest design trends? To what extent do design trends matter?

JN : I stay updated with design trends by attending industry events and following design publications and social media. Trends matter as they provide fresh ideas and keep my work relevant, but maintaining a unique personal style is equally important.

How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design?

JN : A well-designed product balances aesthetics, functionality, and user experience, with good design integrating these elements harmoniously.

How do you decide if your design is ready?

JN : I decide my design is ready when it effectively communicates the concept, performs its function smoothly, looks visually appealing, provides a seamless user experience, and receives positive feedback.

What is your biggest design work?

JN : My biggest design work is the one that won the prestigious A' Design Award. This recognition highlights the excellence and innovation embodied in the project, making it a significant milestone in my career.

Who is your favourite designer?

JN : My favorite designer is Zaha Hadid. Her innovative and futuristic approach to architecture has always been an inspiration to me. Her designs are not only visually stunning but also push the boundaries of conventional architecture, blending form and function in unique and imaginative ways.

Would you tell us a bit about your lifestyle and culture?

JN : My lifestyle is deeply influenced by a blend of contemporary and traditional elements. I value the rich cultural heritage of Iran, with its emphasis on family, art, and community. This cultural backdrop infuses my daily life with a strong sense of identity and appreciation for beauty. In terms of lifestyle, I maintain a balance between work and personal life. My days are filled with creative pursuits and professional engagements, but I always make time for family gatherings, social events, and personal interests. I enjoy exploring new ideas, traveling, and experiencing different cultures, which continuously inspire my design work.

What are your philanthropic contributions to society as a designer, artist and architect?

JN : One of my philanthropic contributions is providing scholarships for those interested in jewelry design but lack the financial means to enter the field and learn. These scholarships offer an opportunity for young artists and designers to develop their skills and achieve their dreams without financial barriers standing in their way

JN : Attending the A' Design Award was an incredibly rewarding experience. It provided an excellent opportunity to network with other talented designers from around the world, share ideas, and gain insights into the latest design trends. Winning the award brought immense recognition and validation for my work, boosting my confidence and opening up new avenues for collaboration and business growth. The event also offered workshops and seminars that were invaluable for professional development, allowing me to learn from industry leaders and stay ahead in the competitive design landscape.
