Interview with Yanlai Xiao

Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?

YX : Yanlai Xiao, designer of Chongqing Gucang Decoration Design Engineering Co., Ltd., has engaged in interior design for about 12 years. In each stage of her career, she develops more deep understanding toward design. She holds the view that design is no longer obsessed with exaggerated means of expression. Now, she shows fantastic love for a more artistic way of expression and she is more willing to explore each client's preferences and habits to plan the entire space in an all-round way to really achieve the standard of customarized design.

How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design?

YX : The quality of the design is not only judged from an aesthetic point of view, I will evaluate it from the structural design to ensure that the design meets the owner's functional needs and performance needs. There is no absolute good or bad design. This is judged according to everyone's preferences. Good design can satisfy the owner's living habits and improve the quality of life.
