Interview with Neoklasika

Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?

Neoklasika : Neoklasika is a multidisciplinary, internationally operating design studio. Our 30 years of expertise in design has been recognized internationally by awards and countless publications. We create interiors that break boundaries between design and art. Neoklasika delivers a fully integrated design and project management, specializing in turnkey interior services starting from design concept up till fully supplied furniture, custom made items and home décor. This way we can guarantee to the clients that the end result will be coherent with the concept till the last moment.

What are your priorities, technique and style when designing?

Neoklasika : The key drive of our design is deep respect of the classical styles and passion for contemporary design trends. The aesthetical values, materials, techniques and craftsmanship form unique interiors designed to inspire. We truly believe that every technique and material used must be selected in context to the site. Functionality and timeless beauty should co-exist to achieve great design. Our professional challenge is to harmoniously incorporate the idea in the interior variating in scale, technique and textures.

You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects?

Neoklasika : One of the things that we would want to stress is the importance of hearing and understanding the client's needs and prioritising them to achieve functional and tailor-made interior. We highly value unique design and have high aesthetical values but all of that is worthless without good functionality. The designer has to have a great set of skills as a psychologist to ask the right questions in order to design according to the most secret needs of the client.

How do you keep up with latest design trends? To what extent do design trends matter?

Neoklasika : Although we keep the track of the current trends of the industry, we focus on timeless design, impeccable quality and artistic uniqueness. We constantly visit design fairs, communicate and meet our suppliers and partners to build our competence. The interiors created by Neoklasika highlight the balance between the site and its context, functionality, aesthetical values and the design concept. We believe that interiors, which masterfully combine these elements, can aim for timelessness. Our main focus is creating the link between the owner and the space we are designing. Trends rarely serve as primary source of concept or inspiration but we love to form a slight hint or accent as a touch.

How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design?

Neoklasika : Seeing the joy in client's eyes the at the end of a project is the ultimate sign of good design. This feeling is beyond compare and one of the best things about our profession. Seeing that the client and the space we have designed resonates with them is very rewarding.
