Interview with Oksana Kashkovskaya

Oksana Kashkovskaya ("OK") interviewed on Saturday, 28 April.

Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?

OK : I'm at the design area approximately five years.I started as professional photographer and during years i researched different design areas including motion design, package design,graphic design.Was done the interesting advertising video project for Marine Stewardship Council(MSC) about the oceans and the useful work of this company.

How did you become a designer?

OK : I wanted be designer from childhood.I loved to draw by pencil and water-color and my favorite subject was the drawing at the school years.There i could completely to open my creative potential.Also the old film camera was for me interesting and accessible thing that played one of main role in the choose be the photograper and also see the beautiful around and try to transmit it in my works.

What are your priorities, technique and style when designing?

OK : When i created the video i usually draw the storyboard on the paper,this is very help to see my further thoughts and promote this idea forward.When i wirking this graphic and package design i prefer create my idea at the softwares directly.There i can see the results almost instantly.When i working with package design i always looking for the same theme for convinced that my new idea will not be similar with other designers.

Which emotions do you feel when designing?

OK : I think that the big feeling of pleasure from process come to me with first idea when i just begin think about new project and to draw in my mind the details of futher design.The process itself is also bring for me the exciting feelings but this part usually most of all hard from first idea to the last result.And the greatist feeling of pleasure come to me at the last stage when all must be collect at one finish project.This is amazing sense and at the same time the pride of finished of all working process overal.

What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer?

OK : When i start my new design i also try to find the same idea that was used by different designers,this can help with understanding how much your design will be new for all world.Also i try to understand and analyse how much for people will be interesting my new design.I think that the quality as analyse very useful and very help me for all my design projects.

What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project?

OK : Of course in my futher plans to creat more interesting and greatist design projects,also at the movie and animation area.The movie one of interesting for me of design aspects.Also i plan to do impact on the package design field that is very interesting for me as a designer to show the product under different design angles ,thus the ideas can born suddenly and this as journey to design world with new and bright design ideas.

What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career?

OK : The main advice to all beginner designers is of course enhance and to develop their skills at the different design areas.This is very help to expand the knowledges for creating new interesting designs.Also try to find different information about last or old designers works. For example,that i do in my design area for enhanced the art result,of course is to find information at the design world and to know more different information about art field, to see the different designers point of view on design.

You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects?

OK : For me success begin from hard and a lot of time work under project.Only the spend a lot of time can help achieve truly a good and perfect result.

What is your day to day look like?

OK : I start my day with checking of the mail.Because there can be most interesting information that can come from business partners or companies.For me the working day never is the routine because i decide a lot of interesting design tasks during this day and to the end the i feel the pleasant fatigue that this day was very productive and the all was worth it.

How do you keep up with latest design trends? To what extent do design trends matter?

OK : I always am interested the new designs trends created by other designers because for me always very interesting to understand as creative people see new design idea from their point of view.Can be very interesting that every new design can has own philosophy and understand that exactly enclosed at this sense other designer

How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design?

OK : For me the good design is the interaction with general design idea and beautiful shapes at the overal ,it's if talk about product design.For movie and animation the good design is the hight quality of pictures with compound of good sense and interesting plot.

How do you decide if your design is ready?

OK : When i working over design project i very attentively look at every detail after do the conclusion about design idea and decide to continue work over this type of project or not.Usually i never stop the design project if i begin it i try to complete it to end. I think i'm a perfectionist and therefore i try to finish all to the end that everything would be best of the best.

What is your biggest design work?

OK : One of my hard and complex work was the animation video about Museum.Many and different task was decided over this animation.Work with 3D softwares also the work with simulation of liquids ,the render time and after all collect at one movie with sound effects and music.The time over this design work was very interesting with solution of many of tasks

Who is your favourite designer?

OK : I can't allocate one of the most designers that influenced on my creative but i always try to find different design works around of world that to see their interersting designers thoughts and decisions at their implementation at our environment

Would you tell us a bit about your lifestyle and culture?

OK : My favorite and inspiring city is a Sydney and all Australia.This country very inspire me at my achievements and design decisions.Interesting ancient Culture of Aboriginals and bright color.Also the music as a part of my inspiration can has the place at the art way.At this moment i working over the travel magazine that is the unusual and contrast travel in the many interesting countries.

Would you tell us more about your work culture and business philosophy?

OK : Usually i work alone but for realization of my design idea as a package design of course i need the different partners that can help with manufactory task.When you are working alone you can concentrate on the many things and control of everything.Undoubtedly this is a hard task because that full work that you do independently does the task more complicated

What are your philanthropic contributions to society as a designer, artist and architect?

OK : For me to create the pro bono design work is absolutely interesting and good thing, because at this case you can share with many people your design idea and it bring to you a lot of pleasure ,specially when you see that your design project can help and when it work as a part of some volunteer project.Also i think that for many designers it can be necessary expirience.

What positive experiences you had when you attend the A’ Design Award?

OK : For me to be a part of winner designer at the A'Design Award competition was very bright and unusual experience.I met a lot of interesting creative persons at the ceremony award that also gived the new meetings with interesting people. That expanded my round of interesting people and their designers point of view.Also every new victory give a lot inspiration to create something new, something interesting else and never stop on the reached achievement.For me be Designer of the Day it is very honourable that means that your design project for experienced designers is very interesting.
