Interview with Elena Whitermore

Elena Whitermore ("EW") interviewed on Tuesday, 1 May.

Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?

EW : I studied as a fashion designer and was making cloths some years ago. Then I´ve got the education as a packaging designer and developer. Now I working on the leather goods factory where I make different types of prototypes to different companies.

How did you become a designer?

EW : I was born with a vision of beauty and hade no other choice but doing design in different ways. During all my design experience I was testing and working with different materials and choose the leather.

What are your priorities, technique and style when designing?

EW : Any design should be possible to make in real. This is a main priority for me as I know how often designers think that good drawn design will be as good made of materials. But it is often not working out.

Which emotions do you feel when designing?

EW : I feel myself alive.

What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer?

EW : The main aspect is it never worked ut anything.

What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project?

EW : Nearest time I´d like to reach the level of known designer and developer of leather goods and bags. So far this is it.

What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career?

EW : Do not give up. Believe in your work and give your 100% to each work you do.

You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects?

EW : Never think that you are a professional ( or truly successful) because work is always a study as well and you can not know everything even if you have worked many ears.

What is your day to day look like?

How do you keep up with latest design trends? To what extent do design trends matter?

EW : I´m looking Pinterest mostly and keep updated with last fashion trends.

How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design?

EW : Good design is always well done design. If you put your 100 on the projekt is can not be bad.

How do you decide if your design is ready?

EW : As I can not put anything more in that.

What is your biggest design work?

EW : My biggest design work seems to in the future.

Who is your favourite designer?

EW : I do not have any.

Would you tell us a bit about your lifestyle and culture?

EW : To live i freedom is the style of my life. To tell what you want to tell, eat what you want to eat and be as you want to be. Free from religion, culture or something else.

Would you tell us more about your work culture and business philosophy?

EW : I like to do everything myself. First. Just like that I can be cure what kind of work I will make other people go through. And how easy ( or not) it can be done.

What are your philanthropic contributions to society as a designer, artist and architect?

EW : I think that design now has so little connection with practical part an reality itself. Skeptical I`m to all this.

What positive experiences you had when you attend the A’ Design Award?

EW : I is good for any designer to be seen and design competitions help a lot. A least now I can mention that I´m a winner when I promote myself and my design with support of A´Design Awards.
