Hamidreza Khademi and Mina G.Jahromi ("HKAMG") interviewed on Tuesday, 14 May.

Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?

HKAMG : I have over seven years of experience in the industry, having worked for prominent companies like Stantec and collaborated on international projects in Germany, Italy, Canada, and the US. My educational background includes a Master's in Architecture from Iowa State University and a Master's in Architecture, Construction, and City from Politecnico di Torino​​.

How did you become a designer?

HKAMG : I became a designer due to my fascination with how spaces affect human emotions. My journey started with a Bachelor's in Architectural Engineering, followed by advanced degrees in architecture. My passion for creating meaningful spaces drove me to pursue this path​​.

What are your priorities, technique and style when designing?

HKAMG : I prioritize functionality, sustainability, and aesthetics. I rely heavily on digital tools like Revit and Lumion and use computer-aided design and physical models. My approach is research-driven and user-centric​​.

Which emotions do you feel when designing?

HKAMG : Designing fills me with excitement and fulfillment. The most thrilling phase is conceptual development, and realizing the final product brings immense satisfaction and pride.

What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer?

HKAMG : My international experience and proficiency in BIM and visualization tools have been crucial. Project management, communication, and problem-solving skills have also significantly contributed to my success as a designer​​.

What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project?

HKAMG : I aim to continue exploring innovative, sustainable design solutions and participate in more competitions. My dream project is to design a fully sustainable, biophilic urban workspace.

What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career?

HKAMG : Stay curious, embrace feedback, and continuously learn. Network with professionals, seek mentorship and develop strong technical skills. Overcome challenges by staying resilient and adaptable.

You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects?

HKAMG : Focus on sustainability, user experience, and continuous improvement. Avoid common mistakes like neglecting functionality for aesthetics. Stay updated with industry trends and technologies.

What is your day to day look like?

HKAMG : My day typically involves project meetings, design development, collaboration with team members, and exploring new design ideas. I also dedicate time to learning and staying updated with trends.

How do you keep up with latest design trends? To what extent do design trends matter?

HKAMG : I follow design journals, attend industry conferences, and network with other professionals. While I incorporate trends, I prioritize timeless, user-centric design principles.

How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design?

HKAMG : Good design balances functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability. It meets user needs and integrates well with its environment. I look for seamless usability and positive user feedback.

How do you decide if your design is ready?

HKAMG : A design is ready when it meets all functional requirements, aesthetic goals, and sustainability criteria. While designs can constantly be improved, practical constraints often determine when to finalize.

What is your biggest design work?

HKAMG : The "Lakeside Workspace" is my most significant and proud project, integrating nature and modern office space to enhance well-being and productivity. It presented challenges in balancing aesthetics and functionality​​.

Who is your favourite designer?

HKAMG : I admire Frank Lloyd Wright for his innovative use of space and integration with nature. His work has significantly influenced my approach to biophilic design.

Would you tell us a bit about your lifestyle and culture?

HKAMG : I live in Dallas, TX, and my multicultural background enriches my design perspective. Music and travel inspire my creativity, and I believe good design positively impacts society by enhancing everyday experiences.

Would you tell us more about your work culture and business philosophy?

HKAMG : I work collaboratively, valuing clear communication and teamwork. I look for partners who share a commitment to innovation and sustainability. Key traits for success include creativity, adaptability, and technical proficiency.

What are your philanthropic contributions to society as a designer, artist and architect?

HKAMG : I support community projects and mentor young designers. I believe in using design for social good and participating in pro bono work and industry events to foster the next generation of designers.

What positive experiences you had when you attend the A’ Design Award?

HKAMG : Participating in design awards has enhanced my visibility, provided networking opportunities, and offered valuable feedback. Awards recognize excellence and drive continuous improvement, making them crucial for career growth. Being the Designer of the Day is a rewarding acknowledgment of my efforts.
